Pressurized, green fluids:
- hot, pressurized water
- supercritical water
- pressurized carbon dioxide gas
- liquid carbon dioxide
- supercritical carbon dioxide
are modern and sustainable media for a number of industrial processes, including:
- extraction of aromas and essential oils from plants
- fractionation of oils and fats
- micronization of drugs and polymers
- impregnation of polymers with biologically active compounds
- microfoaming thermoplastics
- extraction of biologically active compounds from biomass
- converting biomass into biofuels
Compressed Fluid Technologies
is one of the divisions of the Association of the Finnish Chemical Societies. The division forms a collaborative network between universities, research institutes, engineering companies, industry and individuals. Our activities include symposiums, publishing general articles on green fluid technologies and giving credit (and cash) to good graduate work or dissertations in the area.
We always welcome interested individuals or organizations to join the division. Please contact the chairman or secretary. For more about the Compressed Fluid Technologies division click here.
